Greetings Adventurers, today we pick up with Glamek Wildsong as he heads east, generally at least.
After just having been accosted and forced into combat by a bounty hunter, now he starts this adventure starting down 2 armed humans who seem to be up in arms and agitated. Perhaps they too were extorted by the bounty hunter, or have been attacked recently?
Moving over to assist and investigate (1:52), he’s mentally congratulating himself on avoiding a conflict, when he’s smashed upside the head with a club, or maybe 2 and the conflict doesn’t end as Glamek initially hoped it would.
Shaking it off, along with everything else behind him (physically and mentally), he continues east, trying to make sure to focus on keeping his gaze and attitude moving forward. Mulling over things, he assesses he needs to stop simply fleeing, or running away from things and instead move or run towards something, have a goal.
Life sometimes demands action. An example of said actions, is avoiding Riften, Riften proper, and the guards to avoid needless bloodshed.
Trying his best to keep his spirits up, he cannot help but note that it seems Hircine’s ire is directed at him, which is somewhat understandably. It was obvious the spurned God had his intentions on putting Glamek down, but he defiantly continues, even passing (6:25) Redwater Den. It was inhabited by vampires, and he’s came by once before when he was wounded and drugged/poisoned by Cami. Since they left him well enough alone though, and didn’t attack, the Half Elf just vowed to come back one day.
Nature is out in full fury the entire duration of the trip, and while it could be Hircine, it never really dawns on Glamek, that this could all just simply be: Skyrim. While skirting Goldenglow Estate and Riften, he thinks back to the Orc he’d met, talking about going to hunt Vampires or something out east.
Maybe that could be an objective goal?
Mentally, Glamek is thinking how nice it is to be on the move, reflecting. How the weather here isn’t...ideal, but it isn’t bad. It’s actually nice and refreshing in it’s newness. His peaceful thoughts are shattered (10:28), at least momentarily--and rather ironically.
Don’t let your environment dictate you, dictate your environment. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is move to a place, move away from what is keeping you unhappy, or move to something that will make you happy.
Yes. Sometimes, life demands actions.
12:00 I don’t like cities. I don’t like people. And I don’t like city people.
These thoughts too, are blown away as Glamek hears another bear’s growl. It’s almost as if this area has a higher frequency of bears, and nothing to do with Hircine? But this is lost on Glamek, more so as he finds, of all things.
A cave. A wondrous…cave. He spends some times plotting his life around it, and how wonderful it could be, before parting ways with it (at least for now) and carrying on.
Not long after a grueling and wonderful confrontation with a conjurer, Glamek chances upon a pair (15:42) on the road. True to his nature, his initial intention is to simply bypass the duo entirely. While in the process of doing just that, one of them call out for help, claiming to be in danger, of a vampire, of all the things it could be.
And true to his nature yet again, he stops and in spite of his own best interest and his pragmatic nature, to see if they needed aid...only to be attacked yet again.
After finding some respite from Skyrim’s violent nature, (18:50), Glamek takes some time to reflect. About the imbalance in his life, pondering on how the curse of Hircine made it almost impossible to gain balance over his life. He reflected on how it was almost impossible to do so, when his body and nature and soul all demanded action, constantly calling on him to move.
It seemed impossible to ever find moments to focus on self awareness in all of this. Oh, Glamek. The irony staring him right in the face, but he always fails to see it.
Finally, coming down the mountain, (19:50) still deep in thought, he decides to continue on the path of becoming a vampire hunter. Maybe killing those things, and getting paid for it, could help him find his purpose.
Right back into the cold.
His eyes constantly are drawn to the skies, both moons, Masser and Secunda glaring down at him. It has him note to himself, if feels as if Hircine’s eyes and ire both are on him.
After finding himself lost in thought, occasionally stirred from them by the presence of a weak and skittish recruit. If this was the quality of recruits this group was pulling in, it was likely a waste of time. The vampires seemed to be no real threat, and these weak fighters may be just what was needed.
But, the promise of septims and adventures, and maybe new companions, they had him finally arriving (22:45) at the bas
