Higurashi Ch.1 (Pt 9): Neo Learns of Keiichi's Friends' Connections to the Previous Incidents

Neo and Keiichi find themselves approached by detective Ooshi once again, with clear intent to divulge more information to the young man. He asks Keiichi to get into his car, which Keiichi does, and eventually they find themselves at a restaurant Hinamizawa's neighboring town. It is here that Neo and Keiichi gradually learn from Ooshi that ALL but one of the members from his club at school are in some way connected to the various murders and disappearances that have been occurring since the dam foreman's murder several years ago. Some of them are even directly related to some of the victims from these incidents. The only odd one out when it comes to having any relation to any of the previous incidents is Rena, so it begs the question as to why Rena was allowed into the club when all the other members were both residents of Hinamizawa and having direct connections to the past incidents in some shape or form. While Neo is uncertain of Rena's connection to the rest of the group, Ooishi also divulges some information about her that gives Neo some valuable insight that he feels might help him determine what might be the source of some of her recently bizarre behavior.

All this new information gives the friendship between all the club members a whole new meaning while also painting Neo's mental image of Rena in a more sad and darker light, but unfortunately for Neo and Keiichi they may be starting to reach too deep into the rabbit hole, because sometime after they arrive home they are visited by both Rena AND Mion. Their appearance is sudden, and the ensuing conversation seems harmless enough at the start - they even brought some food for Keiichi... but they eventually reveal that they know WHERE Keiichi went to while he was out of school, and with WHO -- and it quickly becomes clear that NEITHER of them are happy about this information.
