On September 18, 2019 Killmonday games released there next title after Fran Bow. Similarly as with that title, Little Misfortune focuses on a young girl confronted with trauma and death. The titular character, Misfortune Ramirez Hernandez, lives a fairly carefree life thanks to her attitude when confronted with serious family and life issues. And in a theme that seems to have carried over to this game, the very real danger that drugs can pose is addressed as well.

The game generally is a point-and-click side-scroller, with options for keyboard, console controller, or keyboard and mouse. Interaction with things in the world has different effects, depending on the context and icon displayed — an eye will examine, a heart will pet, a door will engage / enter, etc. When arrow icons are shown, the arrow will interact with the thing closest to the arrow. One special action is spreading happiness, in the form of glitter.

KEYBOARD: Movement is done via either arrow keys or the standard W, A, S, and D. Glitter is distributed with F; interactions with objects in the world is done with Enter. Decisions are made by holding A or D; if a close-up / examination screen is shown, X closes that.
GAMEPAD: LS moves Misfortune. Glitter is distributed with Y; interactions with objects in the world is done with A. Decisions are made by holding X or B; if a close-up / examination screen is shown, B closes that.
KEYBOARD AND MOUSE: Basic movement is handled using either arrow keys; the standard W, A, S, and D; or by clicking elsewhere on the screen. Glitter is distributed by clicking on Misfortune *herself*; interactions with objects in the world is by clicking them. Decisions are made by holding LMB over the choice you want; if a close-up / examination screen is shown, X closes that.

Hearing a new, mysterious entity — whom she refers to as Mr. Voice — speaking to her, she goes on a journey to find "Eternal Happiness" that she is promised can be hers. She doesn't want it for herself, however, but to give it to her mother, whom she worries is always sad. Will the little lady find the promised happiness? Whom can she trust? Let's play Little Misfortune and see!
