NewsTalkZB Caller Away on Boat Told She Did Not Need To Complete All Census Forms, 7 Mar 23

A caller to NewsTalkZB, who was on holiday aboard a boat near Kawau Island on March the 7th, the official date for census stats collection, was advised that she did not need to complete all census forms, as she is not at home. She phoned NewsTalkZB at about 9.40am on March the 7th and told show host, Kerre Woodham that received the forms in the mail and she wanted to complete all of the forms for the census, but was initially advised by the Stats NZ by email that she did not need to, as she was not at home on the 7th of March. Heather said that she wanted to contribute her information to Stats NZ and so she said she emailed Stats NZ again and pressed them for assistance. She was then advised how to contribute her information. Heather said she had to go to an awful lot of effort to get Stats NZ to accept her data.
It states on the 'New Zealand Census of Population and Dwellings Guide Notes', on page 2 under the title: Individual Form: Who has to fill in an Individual form? "Everyone who is spending the night of Tuesday 7 March 2023 here in this dwelling. Forms need to be completed for babies, children and visitors. The information you provide will be kept confidential."
