The more moral and compassionate you are, the easier it is for these abusers to use your virtues against you, particularly if you're a common Judeo-Christian believing God is watching and loving you based on how virtuous you are, and when you habitually project onto others your own psychology as though we are all God's children. These evil demons relish that idea because it means it will take you much longer to figure them out, and you will be prone to forgiving them.
