First Known Albino Slow Loris Released Back Into the Wild

An albino Sumatran slow loris has been returned to the wild after being rescued by International Animal Rescue (IAR) from a life of captivity. The nocturnal primate had been taken from the wild and kept as a pet before its rescue on August 31. The loris, a male, was cared for until its release into the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park in Lampung Province, Sumatra. The loris was fitted with a special radio collar to help a specialized team track its progress in its natural habitat. The program director of IAR Indonesia, Karmele Llano Sanchez, said: “This is the first known albino loris in the world and, therefore, extremely rare.
