Indiana Exploring: Pioneer Mothers Forest and Yellow Birch Ravine

So with all that is going on in the world, I needed to get out and explore some places I had never seen before locally. The state parks in Indiana are now closed and sometimes you have to get creative when trying to skirt the law. On this trip, I headed out to Pioneer Mothers Memorial Forest, and Yellow Birch Ravine Nature Preserve. Pioneer Mothers Forest is one of only three remaining virgin forests left in Indiana. I wanted to see what the trees would look like before we got to the area. I am glad I went. I was able to have a really nice, calm hike through the woods to take my mind off everything. After that, I traveled a little farther south to the Yellow Birch Ravine Nature Preserve. I had heard there were two waterfalls and a natural arch in that area so I had to see both. Saw some fantastic rock formations as well as just a very pretty forest there as well. I highly recommend both these hikes as they are family-friendly and relatively easy.
