Unemployed veteran Chuck Scott (Robert Cummings) gets a job as chauffeur to crime-boss Eddie Roman (Steve Cochran). But Chuck's involvement with Eddie's frightened, beautiful wife (Michele Morgan) leads the two to plan an escape to Cuba.
