TRIVIA:
- The film had been announced in 1967 and Mary Tyler Moore joined the project in October 1968.
- The production was a vehicle to promote Moore's career (which was successful, as she got her own series in 1970) andalso as a means of promoting Elvis' upcoming return to the stage.
- Barbara McNair, a very popular singer at the time, was one of the supporting actors along with Jane Elliott, an already established actress on TV.
- Darlene Love, from The Blossoms, who would sing backup vocals for Elvis in 1969 and 1970, appears in an uncredited role.
- Although set in New York, the film was shot in the Los Angeles area and on the Universal Studios lot.
- The story pleased many for preaching religious tolerance (at a time when Catholics were very frowned upon in the US) and talking about a subject as controversial as whether or not to release priests and nuns to abandon priesthood in case of doubts about their true calling.
- It was Elvis' most successful film since "Blue Hawaii" (1961).
- "Rubberneckin'" would become a Gold single in 1970.
