What was the price of Salvation.... The Debt we could not pay... Jesus paid our sin debt in full...
1 Corinthians 6:20-You were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
The Apostle Paul reminds us that we were bought with a price. Yes, it cost God something to redeem us.
"We were bought" means that our redemption was not free for God, even thought it was freely given to us.
The price that was paid to redeem us, set us free from the wrath and penalty of sin and reconcile us back to God was the cost of "Blood" which was shed by God's own Son, Jesus Christ at Calvary while we were yet sinners who were separated from God because of our sins.
But thanks be to God, that even while we were in our wretched condition, God loved us enough to put on flesh, come to earth to dwell among us through the person of Jesus Christ and shed His blood for us.
Yes, it was a bloody Cross on a hill called "Golgotha", Calvary hill where the price of sin was paid for you and I.
Hebrews 9:12-14 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
All the penalty and punishment that you and I deserved was placed upon Jesus on that cross. Yes, He redeemed us from the curse of the law at Calvary that day over 2k years ago, therefore, we are no longer a slave to sin, but a slave to God. We do not belong to ourselves, but to God.
The Apostle Paul describes himself this way in Romans 1:1-Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, chosen by God to be an apostle and sent out to preach His Good News.
Paul knows that he was once a slave to sin, but after his redemptive experience on the road to Damascus, He boldly confess to no longer be a slave to sin, but to God and Jesus Christ. GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 Corinthians 7:22 When the Lord chooses slaves, they become his free people. And when he chooses free people, they become slaves of Christ.
We don’t belong to ourselves because we belong to God. He created us, He sustains us and most of all, He bought us with His blood.
Because of what Christ has done for you and I, are you giving your all to Him? Does He own your mind, soul, body and Spirit?
If you have been redeemed by the blood of Christ, here is what scripture says concerning you in 1 Corinthians 6:19- Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God, and that you are not your own?
Our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit. We should use them to glorify God in spirit and in truth for it is He that hath redeemed us from His wrath and penalties for our sin.
Just like the slave who is bought by His master is the sole property of that Masters, so it is with us who have been bought with the price of Christ shed blood at Calvary are not own, but we belong to God.
Have you accepted God's payment for your redemption? If not, I exhort or plea with you on today to make Jesus your choice. He is calling you to trust Him with your future and your life now and in eternity.
When God purchased you and I from the slave market of sin, His goal for us is to conform us into the likeness of His Son Jesus.
We were purchased with Christ blood and God now owns us. We are forever His for the price was paid once and for all.
Why should we obey God in our body and in our spirit? Why should we do right concerning Him? We should do it because we were bought with a price that cannot be numbered.
When we live the life of one who is redeemed, our God is honored.
When we live the life of one who is redeemed, the world sees God and what true redemption looks like.
If you have not been doing so, let today be a day of new beginnings for you.
A day that you have purposed in your heart to live the life of one that has been redeemed so that the world would know what "God's redeemed" looks like.
Remember, you and I are not our own for we were bought with a price!
Our redemption was paid with blood, therefore, we rejoice and be glad in it.
God bless and I love you all.
