2nd Grade Math 3.7, Use Ten to Subtract

Getting to 10 in subtraction can help us when finding a difference. If we get to 10, we can use a tens fact to find the difference. We can use this method to subtract with mental math. We break apart the subtrahend into addends that will help the minuend become a 10. Then, we subtract the remaining part of the subtrahend. We show a number line to subtract to make a 10. We solve two word problems that involve using 10 to subtract. We use higher order thinking skills to circle an addition and subtraction number sentence that show the same amount.
