Biden signed into law the Safer Communities Act, the most significant gun control legislation in 30 years in response to a mass shooting in Buffalo, New York. What did Trump do on guns? According to NBC News just last January, 36 hours after a school shooting in Iowa, he told the afflicted families and victims to quote “get over it.” How would you feel, if your brother, your sister, eventually your kid, was shot and killed at school, and a former President of the United States who did absolutely nothing to prevent that from happening told you to just “get over it.”

Trump appointed 3 of the five Justices to the Supreme Court who overturned Roe vs Wade abolishing the Constitutional right to an abortion, making possible extreme abortion bans without exceptions for rape and incest. This isn’t surprising given the fact that he said “there has to be some form of punishment” for women who recieve an abortion. Well here’s the punishment he inflicted: endless horrific cases of women being prosecuted for having miscarriages, being denied an abortion even when without it their life would be at risk like Kate Cox in Texas. Or the case of a 10 year old girl who was raped who had to flee across state lines from Ohio to Indiana to have that pregnancy terminated. To make matters worse, Trump has come out and endorsed these extreme abortion bans and will keep them in place if re-elected. Biden on the other hand signed several executive orders in an attempt to safeguard abortion access but there’s only so much he can Constitutionally do on his own. Which is why we ought to flip the House back to Democratic control, expand our Senate majority, and re-elect Joe Biden.

Did you know that in the meat industry baby pigs are castrated and have their tails cut off without anesthetic most times? Broiler chickens are also debeaked. Animals are raised for a few months to a little over a year often in cages so small they can’t even turn around or care for their young, and far below their natural lifespan they are hauled onto a slaughterhouse truck with other members of their species, dying of heat exhaustion in some instances, and dying of the cold in others. Donald Trump did away with almost every single environmental regulation he could find, exacerbating the existential threat of climate change.

In the dairy industry like all mammals cows need to be impregnated in order to lactate or produce milk. Despite many of us thinking otherwise this is true as acknowledged by the New York Times which goes on to agree that this is usually done through what’s called artificial insemination. Farmers put a large glove over their hand, insert it into the cow’s rectum and place pressure downwards to open the cow’s vulva to then place a rod through the vagina that releases bull semen. Once pregnant, said cow carries their baby for 9 months and gives birth. At this point their baby is taken away so that they don’t drink their mother’s milk. Farmers can’t have calves drinking up all the milk because they have to make profit by milking that cow themselves so they can sell it to us. Cows can be seen crying, wailing for their babies. At times even attacking farmers attempting to snatch their babies, or chasing after the truck the farmer put their baby in when they’re driving away. And if that calf is a boy, sometimes they’re raised and killed for beef, but usually they’re kept in a small cage until the age of three to four months and killed for a type of meat called veal. And if they’re a girl, they’re raised and subjected to the same treatment their mothers are, where in many instances they get punched, kicked, or shocked with a cattle prod if they don’t want to go to get milked. And once they’ve reached the age of four and a half to six years years old and can’t produce milk anymore, at times with a cow fetus still inside of them, having experienced their being babies taken repeatedly, they’re sent to the slaughterhouse where they get boltgunned in the head or their throat slit open so that their body can be sold for meat. In this way, the dairy industry essentially is the meat industry with extra steps.

Name a position you think should be added to the Democratic Party’s platform, I’ll go first, animal rights. Because the Democratic Party has evolved to be conscientious about including everyone into our circle of compassion, those who may not have have been seen as good enough or worthy of dignity and respect in the past, it’s only logical to say that like the LGBTQ community, like women, like poor people, animals are disproportionately at risk for experiencing violence and exploitation, more than any other group because they’re not even seen as victims. That’s the problem with the vast majority of conspiracy theories because they all arise out of a desire to make reality more interesting than it really is rather than accepting the truth which can be boring at times.

Hamas is an Islamic terrorist organization that brutally murdered over 1,000 civilians and raped young women before executing them at the Nova music festival, for some reason there’s a lot of talk of two teenage girls murdered by Hamas allegedly not having been raped as if that somehow debunks the UN report showing sexual violence was inflicted to other women, and as if that justifies the fact that they were murdered by Hamas. Violence is legitimate resistance, but sexual violence is not. Hamas encroaching into Israel murdering and kidnapping people and provoking the IDF into pummeling Gaza is not. Legitimate resistance is Ukrainian soldiers fighting back against Putin who wants to turn their country into an authoritarian hell. Legitimate resistance is fighting Nazis in WW2 or Confederates in the US Civil War trying to divide the Union and preserve slavery. Trump was the worst President in American history, he attempted a coup when he lost by 7 million votes, he appointed 3 of the 5 Justices that overturned Roe vs Wade making possible extreme abortion bans without exceptions for rape and incest, he removed every environmental regulation he could find, he mismanaged a pandemic leading to over 20 million jobs being lost and small businesses closing that never came back and he cut taxes for the rich which is why they want him back in office.

If you are liking, sharing, or posting anything along the lines of “we need Trump back in office, everything is too expensive” not only are you giving cover to multi-billion dollar corporations that are price gouging you despite inflation being down to 3.1% by blaming Biden, you are helping a wannabe dictator who wants to implement a national abortion ban and accelerate the existential threat of climate change get back into office all while he cuts taxes for the rich and you stay poor.

While many Democrats say they would prefer an alternative candidate to Biden in 2024, they do not agree on who that alternative should be. Biden has proven quite adept at bridging the divide between progressives and moderates/centrists within the Democratic coalition. There’s also the fact that Biden has shown no inclination to step aside, and primary challenges to incumbent presidents generally do not turn out well.

Still, the average Democrat would likely have preferred if Biden had stepped aside and a competitive primary in which major Democratic contenders threw their hats in the ring could have taken place. Some even floated the idea of having a primary for the VP slot given that Kamala Harris’s poll numbers until recently were pretty dismal, so in case the unthinkable should happen, a VP chosen by the people in 2023 (rather than by Biden in 2019) would be ready to step in. But obviously party leaders felt differently. The average Democrat is likely disappointed but resigned.

It is 2041, a new President has just been inaugurated, but this President is different from the rest.
