✠ Eoin O'Duffy (born Owen Duffy, 28 January 1890 – 30 November 1944) was a fascist Irish nationalist politician, military commander and police commissioner. He was the leader of the Monaghan Brigade of the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and a prominent figure in the Ulster IRA during the Irish War of Independence. In this capacity he became Chief of Staff of the IRA in 1922. He accepted the Anglo-Irish Treaty and served as a general in the National Army in the Irish Civil War, on the pro-Treaty side.

O'Duffy became the second Commissioner of the Garda Síochána, the police force of the new Irish Free State, after the Civic Guard Mutiny and the subsequent resignation of Michael Staines. He had been an early member of Sinn Féin. He was elected as a Teachta Dála (TD) for Monaghan, his home county, during the 1921 election. After a split in Sinn Féin in 1923, he became associated with Cumann na nGaedheal and led the movement known as the Blueshirts. After the merger of various pro-Treaty factions under the banner of Fine Gael, O'Duffy was the party leader for a short time, before leaving the party in 1934.

O'Duffy was attracted to the various fascist movements on the continent. He raised the Irish Brigade to fight for Francisco Franco during the Spanish Civil War as an act of Catholic solidarity and was inspired by Benito Mussolini's Italy to found the National Corporate Party. During the Second World War, he offered to Nazi Germany the prospect of raising an Irish Brigade to fight against the Soviet Union on the Eastern Front, but this was not taken up. ✠

Lyrics:

Proudly the Blue flag above us is waving,
out with old slaveish and cowardly fears,
see where our leader strides boldly before us
loyal to all in the trust that he bears,

Steadfast and calm and brave
he will old Ireland save
rush to his banner all good men and true
now we resound the call
there will be room for all
who stand by our country
O’Duffy Abu!

Stern is the fight that we now do engage in
both justice and truth will our motto were be
Erin now helpless nigh bankrupt and broken
we must rise up to be prosperous and free

Up with Saint Patrick’s flag!
never let our courage lag
remember O’Reilly and Lynch men in blue
think of the lives they gave
for our dear land to save
For God and for Ireland
O’Duffy Abu!

✠ The Chetniks formally the Chetnik Detachments of the Yugoslav Army, and also the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland and the Ravna Gora Movement, was a Yugoslav royalist and Serbian nationalist movement and guerrilla force in Axis-occupied Yugoslavia. Although it was not a homogeneous movement, it was led by Draža Mihailović. While it was anti-Axis in its long-term goals and engaged in marginal resistance activities for limited periods, it also engaged in tactical or selective collaboration with the occupying forces for almost all of the war. The Chetnik movement adopted a policy of collaboration with regard to the Axis, and engaged in cooperation to one degree or another by establishing modus vivendi or operating as "legalised" auxiliary forces under Axis control. Over a period of time, and in different parts of the country, the movement was progressively drawn into collaboration agreements: first with the puppet Government of National Salvation in the German-occupied territory of Serbia, then with the Italians in occupied Dalmatia and Montenegro, with some of the Ustaše forces in northern Bosnia, and, after the Italian capitulation in September 1943, with the Germans directly. ✠

Lyrics:

Српска ми труба затруби,
из тога села Дренова!

Спремте се спремте четници,
силна ће борба да буде!

Загрми Дража војвода,
бацајте бомбе, четници!

Из ове наше победе,
рађа се сунце слободе!

English:

Serbian horn sounded to me,
from that village of Drenovo!

Get ready, get ready Chetniks,
there’s hard battle ahead!

Voivode of Draža thundered,
throw bombs, Chetniks!

From this our victory,
the Sun of freedom is born!

✠ "Тих бял Дунав се вълнува" ("Still White Danube Undulates") also known as the Botev March, is a popular Bulgarian patriotic song. The lyrics are based on that of a poem by Ivan Vazov titled Radetzky after the steamship seized by the rebels. The storyline recounts a historically accurate incident from the Bulgarian struggles against Ottoman rule, which has earned the status of modern myth for Bulgarians, to some degree due to this song. On 29 May 1876 Bulgarian revolutionary and poet Hristo Botev at the head of 205-strong company of rebels seized control of the Austro-Hungarian passenger steamship Radetzky by armed force and used it to cross the Danube from Romania to the Bulgarian territories of the Ottoman Empire in order to join the April Uprising. Dagobert Engländer, Captain of the Radetzky, later recounted that "he had rarely met a man so impressive or energetic as Botev". The melody was composed by vocalist Ivan Karadzhov, according to his biography. In some performances of the song, the fourth verse is omitted. ✠

Lyrics:

English:

Tranquil, white Danube trembles,
jolly drubbing,
And Radetzky proudly sails,
Upon resplendent waves.

Withal glittering Kozloduy shore
A horn apprises the Steamer,
A flag is thus unfurled.

Dear, young Bulgarian Heroes
Emerge thither thy,
On their foreheads lion marks,
and in their eyes ardour.

Proudly there erect before them,
Their leader young,
And thus spoke he to the captain
Holding knife bare.

‘I am a Bulgarian voivod,
And these are all my men.
We fight now for liberation,
blood to spill today.

We are fighting for Bulgaria,
Proudly devote our succour,
And from tyranny oppressive
extricate her today.

✠ The Iron Guard or the Legionnaire Movement. Its ideology was ultra-nationalistic, antisemitic, and opposed to both communism and capitalism; it also promoted its own radicalized version of Eastern Orthodox Christianity.
In March 1930, Codreanu formed the Iron Guard as a paramilitary branch of the Legion, which in 1935 changed its official name to the "Totul pentru Țară" party—literally, Everything For the Country Party. It existed into the early part of the Second World War, during which time it came to power. Members were called Legionnaires or Greenshirts because of the predominantly green uniforms they wore.

When Marshal Ion Antonescu came to power in September 1940, he brought the Iron Guard into the government, creating the National Legionary State. In January 1941, following the Legionnaires' rebellion, Antonescu used the army to suppress the movement, destroying the organization; its commander, Horia Sima, along with other leaders, escaped to Germany. ✠

Lyrics:

Sfânta tinerețe legionară,
Holy young legionary,

Cu piept călit de fier
With his chest like iron

și sufletul de crin
and his soul like lilies

Iureș ne-nfrânat de primăvară,
Unbridled, he rushes in the spring,

Cu fruntea ca un iezer carpatin,
His face calm as a Carpathian river,

Cu brațele suim în soare,
With his arms stretched to the sun,

Catapetesme pentru veac
Like an eternal Iconostatis

Le zidim din stânci,
We have built it with stones,

din foc, din mare,
With fire, with the sea,

Si dârz le tencuim cu sânge dac!
And bravely we have daubed it with Dacian blood!

Garda, Căpitanul,
The guard, the capitain,

Ne preschimbă-n șoimi de fier
Have transformed us in iron hawks

Țara, Căpitanul,
The Motherland, the Captain,

Și Arhanghelul din cer
And the Archangel in Heaven(edited)
[9:44 AM]
Moartea, numai moartea legionară,
Death, the legionary death,

Ne este cea mai scumpă nuntă dintre nunți,
It's the most costful of all weddings,

Pentru sfânta cruce,
For the Holy Cross,

pentru țară,
And for the Motherland

Înfrângem codrii
We shall defeat the forests

și supunem munți;
And make the mountains bow down

Nu-i temniță să ne-nspăimânte,
There's no prison which can scare us,

Nici chin, nici viforul dușman;
No pain, no enemy attack

De cădem cu toți, izbiți în frunte,
And if we all fall, shot in the head,

Ni-i dragă moartea pentru Căpitan!
We will accept death, for the captain!

Sfânta tinerețe legionară,
Holy young legionary,

Suim biserici, stăm viteji în închisori
We build churches and in prisons we stay brave

În prigoana orișicât de-amară,
And in the persecutions, even the most bitter ones,

Cântăm si ne gândim la Nicadori,
Sing and remember of the Nicadori,

Purtăm în crivăț și în soare,
We carry under blizzards, and under sunny skies,

Lumini pentru biruitori,
Lights for the victorious ones,

Pentru cei viteji zidim altare,
For the brave ones, we build altars,

Și-avem doar gloanțe pentru trădători!
And for the traitors we have only bullets!

✠ A German army equipped, organized, and trained following a single doctrine and permanently unified under one command in 1871 during the unification of Germany under the leadership of Prussia. From 1871 to 1919, the title Deutsches Heer (German Army) was the official name of the German land forces. Following the German defeat in World War I and the end of the German Empire, the main army was dissolved. From 1921 to 1935 the name of the German land forces was the Reichsheer (Army of the Empire) and from 1935 to 1945 the name Heer was used. The Heer was one of two ground forces of the Third Reich during World War II but, unlike the Heer, the Waffen-SS was not a branch of the Wehrmacht but was a combat force under the Nazi Party's own Schutzstaffel forces. The Heer was formally disbanded in August 1946. ✠

✠ The Arrow Cross Party was a far-right Hungarian-nationalist party led by Ferenc Szálasi, which formed a government in Hungary they named the Government of National Unity. They were in power from 15 October 1944 to 28 March 1945. During its short rule, ten to fifteen thousand civilians were murdered outright, including many Jews and Romani, and 80,000 people were deported from Hungary to concentration camps in Austria. After the war, Szálasi and other Arrow Cross leaders were tried as war criminals by Hungarian courts. ✠

Lyrics:

Ébredj, magyar! Az ősi föld veszélyben!
Elvész a fajtánk, hogyha nem merünk!
Vélünk az Isten száz csatán keresztül,
Nem veszhetünk el, csak mi győzhetünk!
Rabokká váltunk ősapáink földjén
de már a hajnal jön, hasadni kezd!
Ha összefog most, magyar a magyarral,
Győzelemre visz majd a nyilaskereszt,
Szálasi Ferenc!

✠ La Marseillaise is the national anthem of France. The song was written in 1792 by Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle in Strasbourg after the declaration of war by France against Austria, and was originally titled "Chant de guerre pour l'Armée du Rhin" ("War Song for the Army of the Rhine").

The French National Convention adopted it as the Republic's anthem in 1795. The song acquired its nickname after being sung in Paris by volunteers from Marseille marching to the capital. The song is the first example of the "European march" anthemic style. The anthem's evocative melody and lyrics have led to its widespread use as a song of revolution and its incorporation into many pieces of classical and popular music. ✠

✠ "In taberna quando sumus" is a medieval Latin Goliardic poem, part of the collection known as the Carmina Burana, written between the 12th and early 13th centuries. It was set to music in 1935/36 by German composer Carl Orff as part of his Carmina Burana which premiered at Frankfurt Opera on 8 June 1937. Within Orff's Carmina Burana, this drinking song is the 14th movement in section 2, In Taberna. ✠

Lyrics:

In taberna quando sumus,
non curamus quid sit humus,
sed ad ludum properamus,
cui semper insudamus.
Quid agatur in taberna
ubi nummus est pincerna,
hoc est opus ut queratur,
si quid loquar, audiatur.

Quidam ludunt, quidam bibunt,
quidam indiscrete vivunt.
Sed in ludo qui morantur,
ex his quidam denudantur
quidam ibi vestiuntur,
quidam saccis induuntur.
Ibi nullus timet mortem
sed pro Baccho mittunt sortem:

Primo pro nummata vini,
ex hac bibunt libertini;
semel bibunt pro captivis,
post hec bibunt ter pro vivis,
quater pro Christianis cunctis
quinquies pro fidelibus defunctis,
sexies pro sororibus vanis,
septies pro militibus silvanis.

Octies pro fratribus perversis,
nonies pro monachis dispersis,
decies pro navigantibus
undecies pro discordantibus,
duodecies pro penitentibus,
tredecies pro iter agentibus.
Tam pro papa quam pro rege
bibunt omnes sine lege.

Bibit hera, bibit herus,
bibit miles, bibit clerus,
bibit ille, bibit illa,
bibit servus cum ancilla,
bibit velox, bibit piger,
bibit albus, bibit niger,
bibit constans, bibit vagus,
bibit rudis, bibit magus.

Bibit pauper et egrotus,
bibit exul et ignotus,
bibit puer, bibit canus,
bibit presul et decanus,
bibit soror, bibit frater,
bibit anus, bibit mater,
bibit ista, bibit ille,
bibunt centum, bibunt mille.

Parum sexcente nummate
durant, cum immoderate
bibunt omnes sine meta.
Quamvis bibant mente leta,
sic nos rodunt omnes gentes
et sic erimus egentes.
Qui nos rodunt confundantur
et cum iustis non scribantur.

English:

When we are in the tavern,
we do not think how we will go to dust,
but we hurry to gamble,
which always makes us sweat.
What happens in the tavern,
where money is host,
you may well ask,
and hear what I say.

Some gamble, some drink,
some behave loosely.
But of those who gamble,
some are stripped bare,
some win their clothes here,
some are dressed in sacks.
Here no-one fears death,
but they throw the dice in the name of Bacchus.

First of all it is to the wine-merchant
the libertines drink,
one for the prisoners,
three for the living,
four for all Christians,
five for the faithful dead,
six for the loose sisters,
seven for the footpads in the wood,

Eight for the errant brethren,
nine for the dispersed monks,
ten for the seamen,
eleven for the squabblers,
twelve for the penitent,
thirteen for the wayfarers.
To the Pope as to the king
they all drink without restraint.

The mistress drinks, the master drinks,
the soldier drinks, the priest drinks,
the man drinks, the woman drinks,
the servant drinks with the maid,
the swift man drinks, the lazy man drinks,
the white man drinks, the black man drinks,
the settled man drinks, the wanderer drinks,
the stupid man drinks, the wise man drinks,

The poor man drinks, the sick man drinks,
the exile drinks, and the stranger,
the boy drinks, the old man drinks,
the bishop drinks, and the deacon,
the sister drinks, the brother drinks,
the old lady drinks, the mother drinks,
that woman drinks, that man drinks,
a hundred drink, a thousand drink.

Six hundred pennies would hardly
suffice, if everyone
drinks immoderately and immeasurably.
However much they cheerfully drink
we are the ones whom everyone scolds,
and thus we are destitute.
May those who slander us be cursed
and may their names not be written in the book of the righteous.

✠ The old people of Korça remember well the day of the founding of the "Lira" Choir, just like the day the flag was raised. Kori Lira, this name so old contains in itself the treasure of the songs of the city becoming the only symbol of the civic song of Korça. The choir "Lira" was formed around the years 1917 - 1922 as a continuation of instrumental-choral formations and groups of that time "Djelmeria Korçare", "Army Choir". The press of the time says that the first concert of this choral group was given together with the band "Vatra" in the city gym on October 22, 1922, a date which was called by the people of Korça as the day of the founding of this group. After 1928, this group was led by a young music professor who had completed his higher studies at the Bucharest Conservatory, Mr. Sotir Kozmo. He worked as a professional to increase the quality of the group but he also has the merit because he set up the first choral group with girls in the city of Korça. The main merit in this development was the youth of Korça, as well as those who wrote the lyrics and composed music for them such as: Mihal Grameno, Thoma Nasi, Spiridon Ilo, Koli Rodhe, Mihal Ballkameni and many others who have remained anonymous. During these 83 years of its existence, the group has existed more than 200 patriotic, lyrical and satirical songs of the Korça region. ✠

Lyrics:

O trima luftëtarë
Oh, brave warriors

O bij të Skënderbeut
Oh sons of Skanderbeg

Kërkoni shqipetarë lirinë e mëmëdheut

Se mjaft në robëri
Because enough in slavery

O e mjera Shqiperi
Oh wretched Albania

O djem rrëmbeni pushkët-ë
Oh boys grab your rifles

Ja vdekje ja liri
Freedom or death

Sot lipset me flamurë

Malit të dalim-ë
Let's go to the mountains

Përmbi shkëmbinjë e gurë
Over rocks and stones

Lirinë të ngjallim-ë
Freedom to revive

T’ju urrej o shokë kjo jetë
Don't you hate this life, my friends

T’ju urrej kjo robëri
Don't you hate this slavery

Qysh e duroni vetë
How do you endure

Albania without freedom.

Ju mbetet-ë në zgjedhë

✠ The Ustaša – Croatian Revolutionary Movement, commonly known as Ustaše or by anglicised versions Ustasha or Ustashe, was a Croatian fascist and ultranationalist organization active, as one organization, between 1929 and 1945. Its members murdered hundreds of thousands of Serbs, Jews, and Roma as well as political dissidents in Yugoslavia during World War II.

Much of the ideology of the Ustaše was based on Nazi racial theory. Like the Nazis, the Ustaše deemed Jews, Romani, and Slavs to be sub-humans (Untermenschen). They endorsed the claims from German racial theorists that Croats were not Slavs but a Germanic race. Their genocides against Serbs, against the Jews, and against the Romani were thus expressions of Nazi racial ideology. However, the Ustaše viewed the Bosniaks as "Muslim Croats," not Slavs, and as a result did not persecute Muslim Bosniaks on the basis of race.

In addition to Nazi racial theory, the Ustaše ideology incorporated fascism, Roman Catholicism and Croatian nationalism. The Ustaše supported the creation of a Greater Croatia that would span the Drina River and extend to the border of Belgrade. The movement emphasized the need for a racially "pure" Croatia and promoted genocide against Serbs, Jews and Romani people, and persecution of anti-fascist or dissident Croats and Bosniaks. ✠

Lyrics:

Puška puca a top rice, grmi kao grom,
As rifles shoot and cannons roar like thunders,

Sad Ustasa bojak bije za Hrvatski dom.
The Ustaša army fights for their Croatian Homeland.

Puška puca krv se lije, dušman bježi klet,
Rifle shoots, blood is spilled, the cursed enemy ruins

A Ustaška hrabra vojska vrši zavjet svet.
And the ustaša army fulfills their holy oath.

Tjera smjelo dušmanina, s praga djedovskog,
They chase the cursed enemy, from their forefathers' homeland,

I podiže staru slavu roda Hrvatskog.
And they bring the old glory back to the Croatian people.

Puška puca a top rice, barut miriše,
Rifles shoot and cannon roars, gunpowder smells so bad!

Mlad Ustaša na bojištu ranjen izdiše.
A young ustaša is now dying on the battlefield.

Ne plaši ga grom pušaka ni topova jek,
He's not scared of the rifles' roar nor the cannons' sound,

Dom, sloboda, vjerna ljubav, rani su mu lijek.
Home, freedom, faithful love, are the treatment of his wounds.

Oj Hrvatska zemljo mila, svice danak tvoj,
Oh Croatia, my dear land your dawn is coming,

Sad Ustaska hrabra vojska za te bije boj.
For the brave ustaša army is fighting your battle!

Happy 4th of July

✠ Independence Day or the Fourth of July or July 4 is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence of the United States, on July 4, 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subject to the monarch of Britain, King George III, and were now united, free, and independent states. The Congress had voted to declare independence two days earlier, on July 2, but it was not declared until July 4.

Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, political speeches, and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the national day of the United States. ✠

Lyrics:

March along, sing our song, with the Army of the free.
Count the brave, count the true, who have fought to victory.
We’re the Army and proud of our name!
We’re the Army and proudly proclaim:

First to fight for the right,
And to build the Nation’s might,
And the Army goes rolling along.
Proud of all we have done,
Fighting till the battle’s won,
And the Army goes rolling along.

Then it’s hi! hi! hey!
The Army’s on its way.
Count off the cadence loud and strong;
For where’er we go,
You will always know
That the Army goes rolling along.

Valley Forge, Custer’s ranks,
San Juan Hill and Patton’s tanks,
And the Army went rolling along.
Minute men, from the start,
Always fighting from the heart,
And the Army keeps rolling along.

Men in rags, men who froze,
Still that Army met its foes,
And the Army went rolling along.
Faith in God, then we’re right,
And we’ll fight with all our might,
As the Army keeps rolling along.

Then it’s hi! hi! hey!
The Army’s on its way.
Count off the cadence loud and strong; (two! three!)
For where’er we go,
You will always know
That the Army goes rolling along! (keep it rolling!)
And the Army goes rolling along!

✠ The Waffen Grenadier Brigade of the SS Charlemagne was a Waffen-SS unit formed in September 1944 from French collaborationists, many of whom were already serving in various other German units. Named after the 9th-century Frankish king, it superseded the existing Legion of French Volunteers Against Bolshevism formed in 1941 within the German Army and the SS-Volunteer Sturmbrigade France formed in July 1943, both of which were disbanded the same month. The division also included French recruits from other German military and paramilitary formations and Miliciens who had fled ahead of the Allied Liberation of France (June–November 1944).

After training, the Charlemagne Brigade was reclassified as a division as the 33rd Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS Charlemagne. It had 7,340 men at the time of its deployment to the Eastern Front in February 1945. It fought against Soviet forces in Pomerania where it was almost annihilated during the East Pomeranian Offensive within a month. Around 300 members of the unit participated in the Battle in Berlin in April–May 1945 and were among the last Axis forces to surrender. ✠

Towards the enemy,

Chantant le chant du diable.
Singing the song of the devil.

Car dans les cœurs des gars hardis,
Because in hearts of bold guys,

Souffle un vent formidable.
Blows a formidable wind.

Qu’importe que l’on nous acclame,
No matter that we are cheered,

Ou nous damne le monde entier.
Or that the world damns us.

Nous l’entraînerons dans les flammes,
We will drag it in the flames,

Et nous en rions volontiers.
And we laugh gladly.

La où nous passons que tout tremble,
Where we go all tremble,

Et le diable rie avec nous.
And the devil laughs with us.

Ah ah ah ah ah

Nous luttons pour l’Europe et la liberté,
We fight for Europe and for freedom,

Notre Honneur s’appelle fidélité.
Our honor is called loyalty.

✠ Norwegian Legion was a Norwegian collaborationist formation of the Waffen-SS during World War II. It was formed in German-occupied Norway on 29 June 1941, in support of the war aims of Nazi Germany. The unit was disbanded in 1943.
The unit was formed from volunteers who were assured that it would be a Norwegian unit with Norwegian officers, uniforms and language and that its area of operations would be Finland. Instead, the unit was deployed to Northern Russia in the occupied Soviet Union, in the Army Group North Rear Area. This was done by the Germans to avoid reinforcing any Norwegian territorial claims to the Kola peninsula and the Finnish Petsamo region, which were desired by the Quisling regime. Initially, Quisling hoped to deploy over 30,000 Norwegian legionaries to Finnish Lapland, but this was rejected by both the Germans and the Finns. ✠

Lyrics:

Og her i gamle Oslo by
Står Vikingkorpset frem.
Se baunene lyser fra fjellet
Bærer bud om den nye tid.
Og baunenes lys skal fortelle
om hirdmenn som fylkes til strid.

Ja, fienden de måtte vike,
selv paven han tapte sin makt,
ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha -ha.
For til vern om det stornorske riket
stod trofaste Hirdmenn på vakt.

English:

On viking raids to foreign lands
went men of Norse descent,
On king ships stood man by man
Of the Hird ready to fight
To Greenland and Iceland and Shetland
Went the voyage of longships west
In France, in Ireland and England,
The Norseman was an uninvited guest

Yes, the enemies had to yield
Even the pope lost his power
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha – ha.
Yes, for the defense of the great Norwegian Kingdom.
Loyal Hirdmen stood on guard

Now we raise a brand new Hird
Of Vidkun Quisling's men
And here in the old Oslo town
The Viking Corps stands forth
See the beacon glowing from the mountain
They bear tidings of a new age
And glow of the beacons shall tell
The stories of Hirdmen ready to fight

Yes, the enemies had to yield
Even the pope lost his power
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha – ha.
Yes, for the defense of the great Norwegian Kingdom.

✠ Movimiento Nacional Socialista de Chile was a political movement in Chile, during the Presidential Republic Era, which initially supported the ideas of Adolf Hitler, although it later moved towards a more local form of fascism. They were commonly known as Nacistas.
The movement was formed in April 1930 by General Diaz Valderrama, Carlos Keller (the main ideologue of the group) and Jorge González von Marées, who became leader. The party initially followed the ideas of Nazism closely, stressing anti-Semitism. It received financial support from the German population of Chile and soon built up a membership of 20,000 people. The movement stressed what it saw as the need for one party rule, corporatism and solidarity between classes, and soon set up its own paramilitary wing, the Tropas Nacistas de Asalto.

However support for Hitler was later abandoned, with González von Marées claiming by the late 1930s that the use of the name 'national socialist' had been an error on his part. Anti-semitism was also scaled back, with a more domestic form of fascism being offered instead.[2] Indeed the main ideological inspiration claimed by the group was Diego Portales and the choice of name had to an extent been inspired by the success the Nazis were enjoying in Europe and a desire to tap into their, at the time, high reputation.[1] Initial contact with the NSDAP/AO eventually ended when that group criticised the Nacistas for their lack of commitment to anti-Semitism.[1] Individual members (most notably, Miguel Serrano) continued to look to Adolf Hitler.. ✠

Lyrics:

Como un solo cuerpo marcharemos
Like a single body, we will march

por el camino de nuestro ideal
Through the path of our ideology

aquel marcado por el sentimiento,
The one marked by the sentiment...

de los que un día cayeron por luchar.
Of those ones that died fighting.

Camaradas, nos ha llegado el tiempo
Comrades, the day has come

el crisoles fundiremos nuestro honor
In the fire, we shall melt our honor

para nunca traicionar a nuestra sangre
So we never betray our blood

Para impedir que se acalle nuestra voz
So our voices are never quieted

¡Chilenos, Chilenos!
Chileans, Chileans!

¡Vamos Chilenos a la acción¡
Let's go chileans, to action!

Libremos a nuestra patria, recontruyamos a nuestra nación
Let us free our Fatherland, let us reconstruct our nation

¡Chilenos, Chilenos!
Chileans, Chileans!

¡Vamos Chilenos a la acción¡
Let's go chileans, to action!

Nos grita nuestra sangre
Our blood is begging us for it

Y el recuerdo de aquel que algun día cayó
And so are the memories of he, who one day fell

Nuestro brazo firme elevaremos,
Our arm, we shall raise firmly

para hacer de nuestro pueblo una nación
To make our people a nation

forjado en los brazos de la estirpe
Forged in the arms of the lineage

de un gran Chile, de su historia y de su honor
Of a great Chile, of its history and its honor

nuestro estandarte, siempre portaremos
Our banner, we shall always carry with us

con su gran rayo a la victoria nos guiará
With its great thunderbolt, to victory it shall guide us

nuestra lucha hasta la lucha llevaremos
We shall continue our fight until we die

y si asi pues el ideal perdurará
And if it is like that, our ideal shall live on

"The Royal Salute", also known as "The Health of the Shah" was the royal and national anthem of Qajar Iran between 1873 and 1909. The French musician Alfred Jean Baptiste Lemaire composed this anthem in 1873 on the orders of Naser al-Din Shah. It had no lyrics. Salâm-e Shâh was played in official ceremonies during the reigns of Naser al-Din Shah, Mozaffar ad-Din Shah and Mohammad Ali Shah. It was also played as the Persian (Iranian) national anthem during Naser al-Din Shah’s and Mozaffar ad-Din Shah’s European tours.

In 1909, after the fall of Mohammad Ali Shah, the anthem was abolished, and after the coronation of his son and successor Ahmad Shah in 1914, Salute of Sublime State of Persia was adopted as the Iranian national anthem.

✠ La Leggenda del Piave (The Legend of Piave), also known as La Canzone del Piave (The Song of Piave), is an Italian patriotic song written by E. A. Mario after the Battle of the Piave River in June 1918. In September 1943 the future king of Italy Umberto II chose it as the new national anthem replacing the Marcia Reale. It remained the official anthem of Italy until June 1944, when Rome was liberated and the government and the King returned to the capital, the Marcia Reale was in fact reintroduced as a national anthem and remained both after the appointment of Crown Prince Umberto of Savoy as Lieutenant General of the kingdom, and after his elevation King. After the 1946 Italian institutional referendum, the newly established Italian Republic selected Il Canto degli Italiani in its stead. Today, the song is popular in Italy and played by a military band on National Unity and Armed Forces Day (November 4). ✠

Lyrics:

Il Piave mormorava calmo e placido al passaggio
dei primi fanti il ventiquattro Maggio.
L'esercito marciava per raggiunger la frontiera,
per far contro il nemico una barriera.
Muti passaron quella notte i fanti:
tacere bisognava e andare avanti.
S'udiva intanto dalle amate sponde

Profughi ovunque dai lontani monti
venivano a gremir tutti i suoi ponti!
S'udiva allor dalle violate sponde

sfamarsi e tripudiare come allora.
"No!" disse il Piave, "No!" dissero i fanti,
"Mai più il nemico faccia un passo avanti!".
Si vide il Piave rigonfiar le sponde,
e come i fanti combattevan l'onde.
Rosso del sangue del nemico altero,
il Piave comandò "Indietro va', straniero!".

Indietreggiò il nemico fino a Trieste, fino a Trento,
e la vittoria sciolse le ali al vento.
Fu sacro il patto antico, fra le schiere furon visti
risorgere Oberdan, Sauro e Battisti.
Infranse alfin l'italico valore
le forche e l'armi dell'impiccatore.
Sicure l'Alpi, libere le sponde,
e tacque il Piave, si placaron l'onde.
Sul patrio suolo, vinti i torvi imperi,
la pace non trovò né oppressi né stranieri.

English:

The Piave whispered calm and placid during the crossing
of the first infantrymen on 24 May;
the army marched on to reach the frontier
to make a wall against the enemy.
The silent infantrymen passed in the night
they had to be silent and go forward.
From the beloved river banks they heard
light and low the exultation of the waves.
It was a sweet and propitious omen.
The Piave whispered: the foreigner shall not pass!

But on a sad night, they talked about a dark event,
the Piave felt the wrath and the dismay.
Alas, he saw so many people coming down, leaving their homes;
because the enemy broke through at Caporetto.
Refugees everywhere, from the distant mountains,
they came to crowd all his bridges.
They heard from the violated river-banks
light and sad the murmur of the waves
Like a sob in that black autumn
the Piave whispered: the foreigner is returning!

And the enemy returned, moved by his pride and by his hunger,
he wanted to vent all his cravings.
He saw the sunny plain from up there,
he wanted to feed and to exult like in the past.
No! the Piave said, "No!" said the infantrymen,
"May the enemy never make a single step ahead!"
They saw the Piave swelling from his banks
and his waves were fighting like the infantrymen.
Red with the blood of the haughty enemy,
the Piave ordered them: "Go back, foreigner!"

Then the enemy withdrew to Trieste, to Trento
and victory spread her wings on the air.
The ancestral oath was honored; among the ranks they saw
Oberdan, Sauro and Battisti resurrecting.
At last the Italic courage broke
the gallows tree and the weapons of the hangman.
Secure the Alps, free the shores,
the Piave got silent, the waves appeased.
On the fatherland's soil, the grim empires vanquished,
peace found neither oppressed people nor foreigners.

✠ The Imperial Japanese Navy in World War II, at the beginning of the Pacific War in December 1941, was the third most powerful navy in the world, and the naval air service was one of the most potent air forces in the world. During the first six months of the war, the Imperial Japanese Navy enjoyed spectacular success inflicting heavy defeats on Allied forces, being undefeated in every battle. The attack on Pearl Harbor crippled the battleships of the US Pacific Fleet, while Allied navies were devastated during Japan's conquest of Southeast Asia. Japanese naval aircraft were also responsible for the sinking of HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse which was the first time that capital ships were sunk by aerial attack while underway. In April 1942, the Indian Ocean raid drove the Royal Navy from South East Asia. After these successes, the Japanese now concentrated on the elimination and neutralization of strategic points from where the Allies could launch counteroffensives against Japan's conquests.[6] However, at Coral Sea the Japanese were forced to abandon their attempts to isolate Australia while the defeat at Midway saw them forced on the defensive. The campaign in the Solomon Islands, in which the Japanese lost the war of attrition, was the most decisive; they had failed to commit enough forces in sufficient time. ✠

✠ The Normandy landings were the landing operations and associated airborne operations on Tuesday, 6 June 1944 of the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during World War II. Codenamed Operation Neptune and often referred to as D-Day, it was the largest seaborne invasion in history. The operation began the liberation of France (and later western Europe) and laid the foundations of the Allied victory on the Western Front.

Planning for the operation began in 1943. In the months leading up to the invasion, the Allies conducted a substantial military deception, codenamed Operation Bodyguard, to mislead the Germans as to the date and location of the main Allied landings. The weather on D-Day was far from ideal, and the operation had to be delayed 24 hours; a further postponement would have meant a delay of at least two weeks, as the invasion planners had requirements for the phase of the moon, the tides, and the time of day that meant only a few days each month were deemed suitable. Adolf Hitler placed Field Marshal Erwin Rommel in command of German forces and of developing fortifications along the Atlantic Wall in anticipation of an Allied invasion. US President Franklin D. Roosevelt placed Major General Dwight D. Eisenhower in command of Allied forces. ✠

Lyrics:

He was just a rookie trooper and he surely shook with fright,
He checked all his equipment and made sure his pack was tight;
He had to sit and listen to those awful engines roar,
"You ain't gonna jump no more!"

Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
He ain't gonna jump no more!

"Is everybody happy?" cried the Sergeant looking up,
Our Hero feebly answered "Yes," and then they stood him up;
He jumped into the icy blast, his static line unhooked,
He ain't gonna jump no more.

He counted long, he counted loud, he waited for the shock,
He felt the wind, he felt the cold, he felt the awful drop,
The silk from his reserves spilled out, and wrapped around his legs,
He ain't gonna jump no more.

The risers swung around his neck, connectors cracked his dome,
Suspension lines were tied in knots around his skinny bones;
The canopy became his shroud; he hurtled to the ground.
He ain't gonna jump no more.

The days he'd lived and loved and laughed kept running through his mind,
He thought about the girl back home, the one he'd left behind;
He thought about the medic corps, and wondered what they'd find,
He ain't gonna jump no more.

The ambulance was on the spot, the jeeps were running wild,
The medics jumped and screamed with glee, they rolled their sleeves and smiled,
For it had been a week or more since last a 'Chute had failed,
He ain't gonna jump no more.

He hit the ground, the sound was "SPLAT", his blood went spurting high;
His comrades, they were heard to say "A hell of a way to die!"
He lay there, rolling 'round in the welter of his gore,
He ain't gonna jump no more.

(slowly, solemnly; about half the speed of the other verses)
There was blood upon the risers, there were brains upon the chute,
Intestines were a-dangling from his paratroopers suit,
He was a mess, they picked him up, and poured him from his boots,
He ain't gonna jump no more.

Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die,
He ain't gonna jump no more!

✠ Augusto José Ramón Pinochet Ugarte was a Chilean Army General, politician and military dictator who ruled Chile from 1973 to 1990, first as the leader of the Military Junta of Chile from 1973 to 1981, being self-declared President of the Republic by the junta in 1974 and becoming the de facto dictator of Chile, and after from 1981 to 1990 as de jure President after a new Constitution, which confirmed him in the office, was approved by a referendum in 1980.

Augusto Pinochet rose through the ranks of the Chilean Army to become General Chief of Staff in early 1972 before being appointed its Commander-in-Chief on 23 August 1973 by President Salvador Allende. On 11 September 1973, Pinochet seized power in Chile in a coup d'état, with the support of the U.S., that toppled Allende's democratically elected Unidad Popular government and ended civilian rule. In December 1974, the ruling military junta appointed Pinochet Supreme Head of the nation by joint decree, although without the support of one of the coup's instigators, Air Force General Gustavo Leigh. After his rise to power, Pinochet persecuted leftists, socialists, and political critics, resulting in the executions of from 1,200 to 3,200 people, the internment of as many as 80,000 people, and the torture of tens of thousands. According to the Chilean government, the number of executions and forced disappearances was 3,095. Operation Condor was founded at the behest of the Pinochet regime in late November 1975, his 60th birthday. ✠

✠ The Rhodesian Bush War—also called the Second Chimurenga and the Zimbabwe War of Liberation—was a civil conflict from July 1964 to December 1979 in the unrecognised country of Rhodesia . The conflict pitted three forces against one another: the Rhodesian white minority-led government of Ian Smith the Zimbabwe African National Liberation Army, the military wing of Robert Mugabe's Zimbabwe African National Union; and the Zimbabwe People's Revolutionary Army of Joshua Nkomo's Zimbabwe African People's Union. ✠

Lyrics:

Here's the story of Rhodesia
A land both fair and great
On 11th of November
An independent state

This was much against the wishes
Of certain governments
Whose leaders tried to break us down
To make us all repent

But we're all Rhodesians
And we'll fight through thick and thin
We'll keep our land a free land
Stop the enemy coming in

We'll keep them north of the Zambezi
Till that river's running dry
This mighty land will prosper
For Rhodesians never die

They can send their men to murder
And they can shout their words of hate
But the cost of keeping this land free
Can never be too great

For our men and boys are fighting
For the things that they hold dear
That this land and all its people
Will never disappear

'Cause we're all Rhodesians
And we'll fight through thick and thin
We'll keep our land a free land
Stop the enemy coming in

We'll keep them north of the Zambezi
Till that river's running dry
This mighty land will prosper
For Rhodesians never die

We'll preserve this little nation
For our children's children too
For once you're a Rhodesian
No other land will do

We will stand tall in the sunshine
With the truth upon our side
And if we have to go alone
We'll go alone with pride

But we're all Rhodesians
And we'll fight through thick and thin
We'll keep our land a free land
Stop the enemy coming in

We'll keep them north of the Zambezi
Till that river's running dry
This mighty land will prosper
For Rhodesians never die

Yes we're all Rhodesians
And we'll fight through thick and thin
We'll keep our land a free land
Stop the enemy coming in

We'll keep them north of the Zambezi
Till that river's running dry
This mighty land will prosper
For Rhodesians never die

Because we're all Rhodesians
And we'll fight through thick and thin
We'll keep our land a free land
Stop the enemy coming in

We'll keep them north of the Zambezi
Till that river's running dry
This mighty land will prosper
For Rhodesians never die

✠ The Korean War was a war between North Korea, with military support from China and the Soviet Union, and South Korea, backed by personnel from the United Nations (principally the United States). The war began on 25 June 1950 when North Korea invaded South Korea following clashes along the border and insurrections in the south. The war ended unofficially on 27 July 1953 in an armistice. ✠

Lyrics:

수호하자 조국의 찬란한 이름
Let us safeguard the glorious name of the fatherland

우리들은 불사신 정의의 탄환
We are invincible, bullets of justice

명령이 내리면은 질풍노도다.
Like a storm when an order is given

총공격 포화마다 우뢰와 같이
Carry out an all-out attack with raining fire

무찔러 처부수자 인류의 적을
Let's go to defeat the enemy of mankind!

철석같이 뭉쳐진 무적의 화랑
Hwarangs are firmly standing together

우리육군 가는 곳 평화가 온다.
Wherever the Army goes there will be peace

나가자 너도나도 앞을 다투며
Both you and I are to advance striving to be first

압록강 칼을 씻어 백두산까지
From the Amnok river to Mt. Baekdu, with a washed sword

기하자 멸공통일 대한의 정예
Veterans of Korea, pledge unification and eradication of communism!

하늘가득 사무친 민족의 수난
'Cause of our people's suffering to reach the sky

여기모인 우리들 일어섰도다.
We rose up and are here today.

제신도 분노하는 원수의 침략
Even gods resent the invasion of the foe

하나도 남김없이 섬멸뿐이니
Only annihilation, no exception

이제야 불사르자 크레믈린을
FINALLY WE SET THE KREMLIN ON FIRE!

✠ The Yugoslav National Movement, also known as the United Militant Labour Organization, was a Yugoslav fascist movement and organization led by politician Dimitrije Ljotić. Founded in 1935, it received considerable German financial and political assistance during the interwar period and participated in the 1935 and 1938 Yugoslav parliamentary elections, in which it never received more than 1 percent of the popular vote.

Following the Axis invasion and occupation of Yugoslavia in April 1941, the Germans selected several Zbor members to join the Serbian puppet government of Milan Nedić. The Serbian Volunteer Corps (SDK) was established as Zbor's party army. Ljotić had no control over the SDK, which was commanded by Colonel Kosta Mušicki. In late 1944, Ljotić and his followers retreated to Slovenia with the Germans and other collaborationist formations. In March, Ljotić and Chetnik leader Draža Mihailović agreed on a last-ditch alliance against the Yugoslav Partisans. Ljotić's followers were placed under the command of Chetnik commander Miodrag Damjanović. Ljotić was killed in an automobile accident in late April 1945. His followers later fled to Italy alongside the Chetniks. The Western Allies extradited many back to Yugoslavia following the war, where they were summarily executed and buried in mass graves. Those who were not extradited immigrated to western countries and established émigré organizations intended to promote Zbor's political agenda. ✠

Lyrics:

Vojska smene novu zemlju nosi,
The army of change is carrying a new country,

Silna kao potopa val.
Mighty as the waves of a flood.

Žrtvom, borbom, ona se ponosi,
With sacrifice and battle it brags itself,

Verom u svoj ideal.
Faithful in its ideal.

Napred drugovi,
Onwards comrades,

Naše vreme stiže.
Our time is coming.

Pobedi sve bliže.
We are closer to victory.

Vojska smene junački se bori,
The army of change is fighting gallantly,

Dobila je zapovest.
They received an order.

Dušmanina ona se ne boji
The enemy does not scare them

Jer je u nje čvrsta svest.
For they have a strong will.
