DIY Belt Squat Machine (Home Gym Hacks)

➡️ Bells of Steel belt squat machine https://ShreddedDad.com/BOSBeltSquat

➡️ Titan Fitness belt squat machine https://ShreddedDad.com/TitanBeltSquat

=====

Belt squats are a great exercise to train your legs and get full range of motion of the hips throughout the movement.

However, the belt squat machine can take up a lot of space in a home or garage gym and they are also pricey.

So I came up with a DIY garage gym version using a dip bar attachment.

Simply attach the dip bar to the bottom of your rack.

Step up to it facing the rack and hand on to an upright with your arms to support yourself.

Just make sure your feet are placed securely and start your belt squats.

That’s all there’s to it.

=====
Belt Squat Benefits
=====

The belt squat is a great alternative to train your legs under load without adding weight to your low back.

The belt falls on top of the hips so there's no compression on the spine.

So people with low back problems can still squat without putting weight on their shoulders.

People who have shoulder problems and can't reach back to hold on to a barbell on their shoulders can also benefit from this.

If you're looking for a simple and inexpensive way to mount your weight plates on your wall, here's what I've done.

These are tire hangers and they're perfect for Olympic sized weight plates.

Doesn't matter whether it's iron plates or bumper plates.

They're 7" long, have a slight incline to prevent weights from falling, and can hold up to 120 lbs.

They're come individually so that gives you more flexibility for your garage gym set up.

You're not stuck with a vertical configuration like you see with most wall mounted weight plate storage racks.

These can also be used to hang other equipment on your walls.

I use these for my power sled and dip bar.

These will definitely help to get stuff off the floor and improve your home gym organization.

If you're looking for a CHEAP wall mounted vertical barbell holder, I have a solution for you.

These hooks are great to use as a single barbell holder.

They have two teeth at the front that prevent the barbell from falling forward.

The weight capacity on them is 40 lbs but you really don't have to worry about that because you can have the floor support the barbell.

Hanging a barbell vertically will open up a lot of space on your walls so you can hang other home gym equipment.

When you compare it to horizontal barbell holders, storing your barbell vertically only takes up a few inches of space.

When you hang a barbell horizontally now you're taking up 7 feet of wall space.

These hooks can also be used as a hanger for other home gym equipment.

I hang my foldable bench and parallettes on them.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCeJM40ihnQ

==========
Get ripped
==========

Learn how to get ripped http://LeanBodyFormula.net

==========

In this Bowflex SelectTech 552 vs PowerBlock EXP review, I break down the features and differences between the two dumbbells to see which one wins the title of best adjustable dumbbell.

==========
Build Quality & Durability
==========
The PowerBlock EXP is made of solid steel.

The Bowflex 552 is made of heavy duty plastic.

Because the Bowflex has more moving parts and they’re plastic, I believe the PowerBlock (which are made of iron) is more durable than the Bowflex.

If I accidentally drop one of these weights, I believe the metal would be stronger than the plastic

=====================
Mechanism of Adjustment
=====================

The Bowflex SelectTech 552 uses a dial turning system which makes it fairly quick to change, however, the dumbbell must be on the base to change weight.

The Powerblock EXP uses a magnetic pin system. You stick the pin under the weight you want to pick up and you're good to go.

When it comes to changing weight in 2.5 lbs increments, the Bowflex is faster.

The PowerBlock EXP takes a bit longer due to the adder weights (2.5 lbs weights) being inside the dumbbells but honestly I don’t even mess with the adder weights.

===========
Dumbbell Size
===========

The Bowflex 552 has a constant length whether you pick up 5 lbs or 52 pounds.

The length may interfere in some exercises such as bench press, curls hitting thighs, and overhead shoulder presses.

This may limit the range of motion in exercises.

The PowerBlock EXP allows you to pick up only the weight you select.

This allows the dumbbell to be smaller with lighter weights which allows for better ROM during certain exercises.

========
Warranty
========

The Bowflex 552 dumbbell comes with a 2 year warranty.

The PowerBlock EXP comes with a 5 year warranty.

===========
Expandability
===========

The Powerblock EXP gives you the ability to expand as you get stronger.

So for example if you buy stage 1 which goes up to 50 lbs, you can buy stage 2 which makes it adjustable to 70 lbs, then stage 3 which goes up to 90 lbs

Bowflex is limited to 52 lbs when you buy the Bowflex 552 or 90 lbs if you buy the Bowflex 1090.

If you buy the Bowflex 552 and you outgrow them, you can't add more weight to it.

You have to buy the additional set of dumbbells (Bowflex 1090) in order to add more weight to your workouts.

=====
Price
=====

Both these adjustable dumbbells are not cheap, however, buying a whole rack of dumbbells is much more expensive.

PowerBlock Stage 1 - Replaces 16 pairs of dumbbells
Powerblock Stage 2 - Replaces 22 pairs of dumbbells
PowerBlock Stage 3 - Replaces 28 pairs of dumbbells

Bowflex SelectTech 552 - Replaces 15 sets of dumbbells
Bowflex SelectTech 1090 - Replaces 34 sets of dumbbells

DIY Home Cable Pulley Machine (Cable Crossover, High Pulley, Low Pulley System)

➡️ Follow me on Instagram http://instagram.com/dadshredded

➡️ Blog: http://ShreddedDad.com

This DIY homemade gym cable machine set up will cover all bases for a pulley system.

You’ll be able to do cable crossovers, set up a high pulley for exercise such as triceps extensions and lat pull downs, and set up the low pulley for exercises such as rows and bicep curls.

The exercises you’ll be able to do with this complete home gym cable pulley machine are endless and only limited to your imagination.

===
Home Gym Cable Pulley Machine Materials
===
Here’s a list of the materials used in my cable crossover system. You can find most of these at your local hardware store.

I’ve added links below just in case you don’t find them locally.

➡️ (2) swivel pulleys https://amzn.to/39NxeKR
➡️ (4) spring links https://amzn.to/2XdzB7f
➡️ Clamp set: (4) thimbles + (8) rope clamps https://amzn.to/2RlMg42

➡️ Vinyl covered wire rope https://amzn.to/3aSC9vx
➡️ Delta quick link (optional) https://amzn.to/2wNkKFB

===
DIY Cable Crossover Pulley Home Gym System (Part 2)
===
➡️ Watch the update to this video for the neutral cable crossover and low to high cable crossover set up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzZ85gKQL-g

===
Setting Up The Cables
===
First thing you’ll need to do is set up the cables. This is the step that takes the longest.

Once the cables are set up everything else is very fast.

➡️ Add pulley to each cable
➡️ Add 2 clamps to the end of each cable
➡️ Make a loop with the cable end and insert the end through the clamps
➡️ Make the loop smaller so that the thimble fits tightly inside the loop
➡️ Tighten the nuts on the clamps using a socket wrench

The end loop set up should look like a dog.

The bolts (legs) point down and the tail (open end of the cable) points up.

If the tail is between the dog’s legs then you did it wrong.

===
Loading Pin Set Up
===
The loading pin is what will carry all your weight for this whole home cable system. All you need is a strap or a delta quick link (optional).

➡️ Pass the strap through the weight plate hole
➡️ Thread one strap end through its own loop and you’re done.

==
Cable Crossover Set Up
==
The cable crossover pulley system uses both cables.

➡️ Wrap a strap around one corner of the pull up bar
➡️ Attach a carabiner to the end of the strap
➡️ Attach carabiner to the pulley
➡️ Repeat on the other corner with the other cable
➡️ Connect both cables in the middle to the loading pin below using a carabiner
➡️ Attach a strap to the loose ends of the cable to use as handles

==
High Pulley Cable Set Up
==
This cable set up requires only one cable

➡️ Wrap a strap around the center of the pull up bar
➡️ Attach carabiner to the end of the strap
➡️ Attach carabiner to the pulley
➡️ Connect one end of the cable to the loading pin with a carabiner
➡️ Attach a strap to the loose end of the cable to use as handles

==
Low Pulley Cable Set Up
==
The low pulley system uses both cables.

➡️ Wrap a strap around one corner of the pull up bar
➡️ Attach a carabiner to the end of the strap
➡️ Attach carabiner to the pulley
➡️ Connect one loose end of the cable to the loading pin below
➡️ Wrap a strap around the bottom corner of the rack opposite to the first pulley
➡️ Attach a carabiner to the end of the strap
➡️ Attach carabiner to the pulley
➡️ Connect both cables at the middle with a carabiner
➡️ Attach a strap to the loose end of the cable on the floor to create a handle

==

Looking for home gym organization ideas? You’re in luck!

If there’s one thing I learned from building a home gym in my garage gym, is that the more organized you are, the more space you have for more gym equipment.

In my case, I had to be extra organized because I keep my car inside my garage.

It gets real cold during the winter and I’d rather not drop off frozen kids at school in the morning.

For this reason, I decided to have the best of both worlds, a parking space and a garage gym.

Home Gym Organization 101

The number one step to take when organizing your home gym is to get rid of shit!

Believe me, I’ve stored a lot of useless crap in my garage also.

How much stuff do you have in your garage or future home gym area that just sits there all year round?

You need to either sell it, donate it, or trash it.

If you or your spouse like to hoard stuff then either build a storage shed for your back yard or make room in the attic.

Use Your Walls

Don’t forget, you have three or four walls and only one floor (with a garage gym you lose a wall to the doors).

Learn to find wall studs and utilize as much wall space as you can for better organization.

I’ve added so much gym equipment on my walls, that I can easily fit two cars in my garage without a problem.

Once I pull my car out the workout area is immense!

Think Outside The Gym

Just because gym equipment companies sell home gym organization stuff doesn’t mean you need to get it from them.

They usually sell it for much more than you’d find at non-gym places.

Tire Hangers

You’ve probably seen gym equipment companies selling wall mounted weight plate storage pegs for $100+.

Tire hangers are just as strong and even more space efficient at half the cost.

Each one can hold up to 120 lbs each and they come in packs up 4 individual pegs for around $50.

I store all my weight plates on the pegs and have never had a problem.

Heavy Duty Hooks

These heavy duty hooks are made of solid steel and have a weight capacity of 40 lbs.

I got them from Lowes for less than $7 or you can find them on Amazon for a little bit more.

Way cheaper than wall storage products sold by fitness companies.

I use these to store my barbell vertically against the wall.

The barbell sits on the floor so the main function of the hook is to keep it vertical and out of the way.

I also hang my foldable bench using two of these hooks.

Once I’m done working out, the bench hangs in the middle of my rack and is out of the way.

I also hang my parallettes with these hooks…

I use one of them to keep my rower standing upright against the wall…

These also come in handy when hanging jump ropes, the Inertia Wave, and belts.

Tool Holders

Tool holders like the one shown above can also help you keep small equipment off the floor.

These can hold up to 65 lbs, have a spring front opening, and a deep v-groove that helps to keep stuff from falling.

You can find these at Home Depot for around $10 or Amazon.

I use one to hold my sledge hammer.

And another one to hold my battle rope.

Tie And Belt Rack

Get yourself a cheap tie and belt rack to hang accessories such as resistance bands, hand grips, climbing holds and other small items that would make a mess on the floor.

See how easy and inexpensive that was? Home gym organization is not hard.

Use Your Ceiling

The ceiling is another place that’s often forgotten when it comes to storing and organizing gym equipment inside your garage or home gym.

As long as you anchor everything down securely to the ceiling joists, you’ll be good.

Gymnastic Rings

I have a set of gymnastic rings installed on a ceiling ring hanger.

When I’m using them, I let the straps loose so they’re hanging low.

When not in use, I make the straps shorter and tie them up so they’re out of the way.

Brute Force Sandbag Review & Workout (BEST Fitness Sandbag)

➡️ In-depth review https://shreddeddad.com/brute-force-sandbag/

Rogue strongman sandbag review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Qe-D5b5gS8

In this Brute Force sandbag review you’ll see why this brand has earned a solid reputation for their quality fitness sandbags.

They’re used by the military, law enforcement, CrossFit athletes, Strongman competitions, and pro athletes.

I’ll be going over the Athlete Sandbag Kit which includes a sandbag that holds 25 to 75 lbs of weight and includes 2 filler bags.

UNBOXING
The Athlete Kit comes in a small rectangular box, nicely wrapped in plastic bag.

Inside the bag you have the sandbag, 2 filler bags, registration information, and instructions to fill the bag.

The sandbag DOES NOT come with any filler material otherwise the shipping cost would be insane.

BRUTE FORCE SANDBAG SPECS
Brute Force sandbags are made of 1000D Military-Spec Cordura.

You get 4 sets of flexible, soft grip handles (8 in total).

Two neutral grips, two barbell grips, two suitcase grips, and two end cap grips.

The handles are also made of Cordura fabric so they can handle the beating.

The handles connect to the bag via a 5 panel webbing seatbelt material.

The seatbelt strap is then triple reinforced into the sandbag in a Box X stitching pattern.

Which means it’s gonna take A LOT to rip these suckers off the bag.

Brute Force uses quality materials all around, including the zipper.

YKK zippers are as tough as they come and they’re built for heavy use.

The Athlete Kit comes with 2 filler bags: One of them holds up to 30 lbs and the other holds up to 50 lbs.

If you’re planning to buy a Brute Force sandbag and don’t have filler bags, make sure you click on “Inner Fillers Include” on their website.

This way you make sure you’re getting the whole kit, not just the outer shell.

Each sandbag comes with military grade double velcro so that nothing spills out.

On the outside you have a flap that velcros down to the bag.

And on the inside of the bag you have another set of velcro straps.

Once you fill it up, press the opening of the bag together to seal it shut.

Then fold the outside flap down and press it tightly for the second velcro seal.

If you use sand as a filler, make sure you clean it off the velcro so that it sticks well.

Each filler bag has a red tab stitched to the side.

This is the DO NOT FILL PAST THIS LINE tab.

Make sure you leave the rest of the bag empty above this red tab.

This will make sure your sandbag remains an unstable load as intended.

HOW TO FILL SANDBAG
When choosing a sandbag filler, you have several options and you can find these at any hardware store.

You can go with play sand, pea pebbles, rubber mulch, rice, or steel pellets.

I always go with pea pebbles because they’re not as messy as sand and each 50 lbs bag is $3.98.

Extremely cheap and works amazingly well with sandbags.

You’ll find these bags in the gardening section of hardware stores so they tend to get wet.

I spread the pebbles out on a towel and let them dry out for about a day before I put them in the filler bags.

Once they’re dry, just use your hands or a cup to fill the bags up to the red tab.

BRUTE FORCE SANDBAG TRAINING WORKOUTS
Brute Force also hooks you up with a training app where they post daily workout videos.

They call them sandWOD’s.

Short for sandbag wod (workout of the day).

These workouts come straight out of the Brute Force ULOO™ Unstable Load and Odd Object Training Methodology.

You can download the app by searching for “UR Brute Force” on the Apple Store or Google Play Store.

Brute Force Sandbag Review & Workout (BEST Fitness Sandbag)

Evolve Over Home Pull Up Bar Review (Best Doorway Pull Up Bar)

➡️ Check out the pull up bar here https://ShreddedDad.com/doorway
➡️ Use coupon code SHREDDED10 for 10% off

➡️ Read the blog post here https://shreddeddad.com/evolve-over-pull-up-bar/

The Evolve Over pull up bar is an adjustable doorway pull up bar that doesn't require any screws or drilling.

You can also use it in hallways with solid walls.

In this review, I'll show you how its screw-less mechanism makes the Evolve Over pull up bar different from other doorframe pull up bars.

Most doorway pull up bars are a one trick pony, but this bar is different.

It can be attached anywhere up and the down your doorframe.

That gives you the ability to hit a TON of muscle groups from different angles with one piece of equipment.

=====
How does the Evolve Over pull up bar work?
=====

The Evolve Over pull up bar uses a gravity tightening mechanism to maintain a secure grip against your doorway or hallway.

First, you turn the middle of the bar until both ends are tightly touching the door frame.

Then flip down the clamps on each end to lock it in place securely.

That's all there's to it!

When you hang from it, the gravitational force is spread outwards towards the door frame.

This means the more you weigh, the more the pull up bar will press into the door frame.

=====
Is the Evolve Over doorway pull up bar safe?
=====

Of course everyone is going to ask this with no screw pull up bars.

And to answer your question, yes, the Evolve Over pull up bar is very safe.

It uses a secure lock mechanism that clamps down like a buckle.

And after it's locked, the bar pushes outward when your weight is on it.

=====
How Much Weight Can It Handle?
=====

The Evolve Over's weight limit has been tested to hold up to 440 lbs so I doubt you'll ever exceed that.

If your own bodyweight becomes too easy, you can even throw on a weighted vest to make the exercises more challenging.

See the weighted vest I recommend here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTb-OsdAvr4

=====
Does it damage door frames?
=====

The ends are made of a really thick silicon pads that are skid resistant but also cushion the force against the door frame.

As long as your door frame is solid, it shouldn't damage it.

As far as leaving marks on the door frame, I didn't have any problem with that either.

=====
Evolve Over vs Other Pull Up Bars
=====

Because the Evolve Over pull up bar is easily adjustable without the need to unscrew anything, you can set it at different heights on your doorway.

This allows you to easily switch from one exercise to the other in a matter of seconds.

You can use the Evolve Over for pull-ups, sit-ups, push-ups, hanging leg raises, dips, chin-ups, stretches, and any calisthenics exercises you can think of.

You can even hang rings or suspension straps from it, making it extremely versatile.

See the suspension straps I recommend here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYHc5ggQI68

======
Evolve Over Pull Up Bar Conclusion
======

If you need a pull up bar that doesn’t require drilling holes in your walls and one you can effortlessly attach to your door frame, the Evolve Over is it!

The best thing about it, is that you have so many options for exercises because it's not screwed to one spot.

You can easily slide it up and down your door frame (or any solid opposing walls) to move from one exercise to the next so you hit different muscle groups.

I can also see this being a great option for people who travel often and want to continue working out while on the road.

When you're done, just turn the bar to take it down or leave it up there for your next workout.

Evolve Over Home Pull Up Bar Review (Best Doorway Pull Up Bar)

Rogue Strongman Sandbag Review, How to Fill Up, & Workout

➡️ Rogue Equipment Deals https://ShreddedDad.com/discount-gym-equipment

➡️ Rogue Strongman Sandbags https://ShreddedDad.com/roguestrongman

➡️ Rogue Strongman Sandbag blog post https://ShreddedDad.com/rogue-strongman-sandbag/

Rogue strongman sandbag review for the 100 lbs bag but I’ll also show you a variety of sandbags available.

Rogue also sells strongman sandbags that are 150, 200, 250, 300, and 400 lbs.

I’ve gotta say the Strongman sandbag is a lot of fun and definitely adds a new dimension to my workouts because there’s nothing like it.

It doesn’t have any handles which adds to the difficulty of the workout.

You really have to use your legs to get low and drive the weight off the floor.

And it’s not a solid piece of metal so the weight shifts when you move it around, making your whole body work to create stability.

=====
How To Fill Up Your Strongman Sandbag
=====

The instructions on how to fill up the strongman sandbag are pretty straight forward.

After lifting the protection flap you’ll see a heavy duty zipper that will lead you to the built-in filler bag.

Reach inside and pull out the built-in filler bag, which is held together at the top by heavy duty velcro.

Pull the top of the filler bag apart and it turns into a funnel and you’re ready to fill it up.

=====
Sandbag Filler
=====

There are many options for what you can use as a sandbag filler and they’re all inexpensive.

The best sandbag filler I found is pea pebbles or pea gravel.

I picked up two bags which weigh around 50 lbs for $3.98 each at Home Depot.

I suggest you air them out for at least a day before inserting them inside your sandbag.

They keep these pebbles in the gardening section and the bags usually have moisture inside them from being exposed to the rain.

=====
Rogue Strongman 100 Lbs Sandbag
=====

The diameter of the 100 lbs strongman sandbag is about the same as the diameter of a 45 lbs weight plate.

Once it’s filled with the pea pebbles, the height of the 100 lbs sandbag is about 8 1/2 inches.

Over time the bags may stretch a little bit from the beating and pounding they take.

=====
Sandbag Exercises and Workouts
=====

Sandbag workouts can be very challenging and there are so many different exercises you can do.

Some sandbag exercises include loaded carries, squats, over the shoulder tosses, and lunges.

The different shapes of sandbags and the amount of filler you put in them will also make workouts different.

A sandbag that’s not filled all the way will shift more during lifts, making the workout more challenging.

=====
Color Rogue Strongman Sandbags
=====

If you’re into colors, Rogue has several colored strongman sandbags.

But these are only available in 100 lbs and 150 lbs.

The colors are red, yellow, blue, camo, and electric green.

=====
Husafell Strongman Bag
=====

The Husafell strongman bag is inspired by and named after the famous Icelandic lifting stone.

The Husafell Strongman Bag is available in 3 different sizes, with approximate maximum load capacities of 100, 150 and 200 LBS.

=====
Cyclone Strongman Sandbag
=====

The cyclone sandbag gets its name from its cone shape.

The top of the bag is broad and it tapers down as you get to the bottom.

This bag comes in 4 sizes: 100, 150, 200, and 250 lbs.

=====
Rogue Feed Sack
=====

The Rogue Feed Sack has long handles that allow you to quickly pick the weight up and swing it over your head or around the neck into carry position.

This sandbag is easy to manage and comfortable to run with.

=====
Block Strongman Sandbag
=====

The rectangular Block Strongman sandbag is available in 2 different sizes, with maximum load capacities of 150 and 200 LBS

=====
Cube Strongman Sandbag
=====

The Cube Strongman sandbag comes in 3 different sizes with maximal load capacities of 100, 150, and 200 lbs.

=====
Tombstone Strongman Sandbag
=====

The extra long Tombstone strongman sandbag measure just 5″ in depth but around 3 feet in length.
