Die Heilige Quelle am Donoper Teich

Die stark eisenhaltige Quelle liegt versteckt inmitten eines urgermanischen spätbronze- bis früheisenzeitlichen Gräberfeldes (ca. 800 bis 600 v.u.Z.), nahe dem Donoper Teich bei Detmold in Lippe / Westfalen.

Der Donoper Teich wurde um 1625 auf Geheiß von Simon VII. für die
Fischzucht angestaut und nach dem Kammerherrn von Donop benannt.

Die aus Sand und Sandstein errichteten Gräber mit einem Durchmesser von neun bis 23 Metern befinden sich am westlichen Ufer des Gewässers und geben heute nur einen kleinen Eindruck von der Größe der einst vorhandenen Grabhügelfelder.

Die Eisenquelle wird bereits im 17. Jahrhundert als Heilquelle erwähnt. Sie wurde modern eingefaßt und als Fliegenpilz gestaltet. Es ist nicht klar ob der Menhir Teil dieser modernen Konstruktion ist.
