4th Grade Math 2.10, Multiply 2-digit Numbers by 1-digit Numbers with Regrouping

We have learned to multiply 2-digit factors by 1-digit factors by adding partial products. We can also multiply these factors by using regrouping. We begin by multiplying to the lowest place value, the ones, then move left to the next greater place value. We regroup when necessary. We can estimate before we multiply to know what a reasonable answer should be. We use Base 10 blocks to model multiplying 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers with regrouping. We compare multiplying with partial products versus multiplying with regrouping. We identify a relationship to write a rule to fit a table to find unknown numbers. We show several examples of word problems that involve multiplying 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers with addition, or with subtraction. We find two factors whose product is equal to their sum.
