Runtime: 6:47
Filmed in and around Boulevard du Montparnasse and Montparnasse Station in Paris, France. The demolition site was located at 348 rue Lecourbe, Paris.
2 songs, 1 mimed, 1 "music video" for French TV. Originally broadcast on October 15, 1967.
This *was* an upgrade to the poorer quality B&W footage that first came in to the Jimi Hendrix collector circles. However, with the recent unearthing of the stunning colour version of this TV clip, the B&W no matter the quality pales in comparison! See the previous version on my channel for the great colour version.
For years, collectors of Jimi called this the Montparnasse footage as the demolition footage with the band miming to The Wind Cries Mary was the site of the old Montparnasse Station. The street scenes with The Burning of the Midnight Lamp as the soundtrack were filmed at a market on Boulevard du Montparnasse.
This video and the following upload of this footage are included for completeness, but watch the colour version instead!
1. The Burning of the Midnight Lamp
2. The Wind Cries Mary
