Deathsmiles - Casper and Rosalie Playthroughs

Deathsmiles is a shmup with some cutesy characters to play as. I chose Casper since I like her gothic design, but you know next to nothing about the characters. Story wise it turns out that all the girls actually come from another world and the main bad guy (the father of a witch called Sakura) is opening a portal to the demon world in order to get back to his origin, which turns out to be the same as our heroines. Once you defeat him you have the option to return to your home, but I decided against it since there was no guarantee that it would work. Still, having the option gives you some replayability. Gameplay-wise it pretty straightforward - you have your regular shot (and the option to shoot left and right) and a screen clearing bomb of limited quantity. Your weapon becomes better as you collect items, but there are no modifiers. I like how the game looks and the bosses in particular are really zany. The different versions of the game are not well explained, but from what I gather, they are different iterations on the story mode. Here you can play as Sakura and a different set of girls, whose story is only slightly different - they get pulled in the magical world and need to find the above mentioned portal to get back home. I randomly picked Rosalie and at the end you don't have the option to stay.

I would definitely recommend the game to fans of shmups. It has a great art style, good replayability and the levels are short, but well-designed without being too overwhelming on the bullet hell aspect.

NOTE: The video file got corrupted at 01:16:19 and recorded only the audio. It seems there's some issue with the capture software I'm using that has conflicts with the latest Windows update. Apologies for that.
