Sir Elton Hercules John CH CBE (born Reginald Kenneth Dwight; 25 March 1947) is a British singer, pianist and composer.
He has sold over 300 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time, and he is the most successful solo artist in the history of the US Billboard charts.
Acclaimed by critics and musicians, particularly for his work during the 1970s and for his lasting impact on the music industry, his music and showmanship have had a significant impact on popular music for 60 years.
His songwriting partnership with lyricist Bernie Taupin is one of the most successful in history.
On November 24, 1995 Elton did his first ever concert in Brazil for a crowd of 35 thousand people at the Ibirapuera Stadium in São Paulo.
Despite the press defining Elton's show as "corny", he managed to attract 36 thousand to Gávea Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on the 25th - his last show on the Made in England Tour and his last in Brazil until 2009.
