2nd Grade Math 3.8, Use Drawings to Represent Problems, Bar Models

Bar models can be used to show addition and subtraction problems. They will show the parts and the whole that we know to find what's missing. We can show a number sentence (equation) using a bar model. An addition bar model uses one bar with the sum written below. A subtraction bar model uses two bars with a bracket showing the difference. We draw a bar model to match an equation. We solve 3 word problems using bar models to help us.
