It seems every time I attempt to play Ridge Racer, stuff along the lines of this happens. On normal "playthroughs" I cannot get a race in or barely select my car before the game freezes up or is so slowed down that it is the same framerate as a slideshow. One oddity is that all my other PS1 games run normally on the system, and so does Ridge Racer when it is in a PS2 or a PS3. On top of that, the disc isn't as scratched as other games I have that seem to run perfectly with many scratches. It could be an anti-piracy being tripped by the system. I remember getting a bootleg copy of Twisted Metal 2 when I was younger and it was a little less scrambled than this while still being able to play it.
