This time out, Barkey looks at "The Specialist" (1994), a Sylvester Stallone vehicle based on a series of books by John Cutter. Here, Stallone plays Ray Quick, a mercenary who takes a job for Sharon Stone to help her get revenge on the Florida crime family who killed her parents. James Woods, Eric Roberts, and Rod Steiger round out the cast, and John Barry delivers a recycled James Bond score. Cultural vandal Akiva Goldsman worked on the script, adding to the problems the project was already suffering under. But is the movie any good in retrospect? Barkey has the word!
