Greetings Adventurers and welcome to Glamek Wildsong’s Season 2 called East.
This is Episode One – Old Wounds. Deeper scars.
Before the Companion Story starts, of note:
I am doing “voice work” for my characters now. With Glamek, I will do my “normal voice” for any thoughts or inner dialogue.
For his externalizations (grunts, yawns, speech, etc) it will be a more gravely, monotonous voice.
I hope it stands out, let me know. In that regard though, this is my first episode with Glamek (and I’ve only done one with Fizban so far) so please be mindful and forgiving. It only gets better.
With all of that out of the way, and nothing more to say, let’s hop in character.
Companion Story – East: Old Wounds. Deeper scars.
(Intro songs: Wintergrasp – World of Warcraft, Windshear Wastes ambience – Borderlands 2)
How long has it been? Fighting enemies, both real and imagine it seems, and with no sleep. Throw in heaps of poisons running through his veins, fresh wounds and exhaustion, Glamek had no concept.
But it felt like an eternity. It was agony.
Thoughts racing through his head, finally, he sets off (1:45).
Territory. Sadly, this wasn’t his territory, and that sinking in is a wound of a different type. Nothing he thought he could maintain, was he able to. And it’s brought death and misery, and a lack of any natural order, in its wake.
His wake.
Dragons. Or. A dragon. Specifically. Did that… was that a dream? Had the dragon actually killed Cami? He couldn’t remember. And no one offered any answers. Perhaps…
Perhaps it was him?
Hircine’s Curse, what he once called a gift, was a weight on his shoulders and fog in his mind. No sleep, the howls in his head. The calls. The desires.
For what he once was, but was no more. Hircine’s calls were subsiding slightly, either by was of Glamek’s effort, or Hircine understanding, but they still came.
He’d ruined for himself now, what. His marriage. The Companions. Riften. Whiterun.
Maybe he’ll find something more, out East. Not sure why, but east he’d go. But there was nothing for him not but ruin, nostalgia, and those wanting him dead.
Glamek is roused from his thoughts as he realized, he’s about to enter Silent Pass (5:30).
Mulling over a pack, families, and territories, he thinks to himself, then ends aloud:
Gods and ground.
Skies and Towns.
Hues may change.
So too, may names.
But everywhere I go, it’s all the same.
The somber walk through Silent Pass emphasizes to Glamek, yet. This is not your home. And that somber walk, become an anxiety and regret filled run.
Glamek, the Chosen of Hircine. Scourge of the Forsworn. Slayer of a Dragon. The Hunting Ground King. He Who Made Giants Howl. Ender of The Dark Brotherhood. Was scared of, and fleeing memories.
Finally (9:00) he greets a traveler and catches his breath a bit, and grounds himself a bit before emerging outside of The Pass. A few wolves attack, which the Half Elf deems a sign of Hircine’s Ire, be it imagines or not. On the subject of Ire, a road sign draws that of Glamek who struggles to read (11:11).
Not long after, while approaching what appears to be an empty cabin, Hircine once again beckons but Glamek grits his teeth, and continues east.
Unconsciously, it seems Glamek’s anxiety plays out with his constant desire to quicken the pace, only to take it slow a few moments later. Then he realizes. It’s the roads.
Once off, and in the wilds, and after handling a few more wolves, he realizes now separate from the cloud and sway of Hircine, he feels even more in tune with nature, his sense more keen than ever.
These thoughts, however, are interrupted, by a bounty hunter (15:45). The event leaves him with mixed feelings though. He had to take another life, over his past mistakes.
When would the killing stop?
In the interest of getting there faster, he swears off Skooma, drinks, drugs or anything of the sorts. It’s led to nothing but issue and conflict. Spotting a few adventurers in the distance, he take a moment, collects himself and prepare to go see how this goes.
