WOODWORKING…MAKING A STANDARD AWL FOR MY WOODWORKING NEEDS.

I wish I could take credit for this design,but realistically there are several videos on YT. Having said that , I’ve been using an old ice pick for an awl for the last 20 years and it was time for an upgrade. I was gifted a couple of small pieces of Purple Heart, Lapache IPE and maple. I was saving those for a special project. Nothing here is very complicated. Basic woodworking knowledge and a simple lathe turning technique. If anything, what took the most time was the progressive sanding and polishing of the awl. The final coating is 6 coats of Johnson’s paste wax turned at very high speeds (2400+RPMS) to melt the wax and give it a high polish.
