8 Doors Arum's Afterlife Adventure - Playthrough Part 1

8 Doors Arum's Afterlife Adventure is a 2D Metroidvania with some interesting black and white aesthetics (with the occasional red). You play as Arum - a young girl looking for the soul of her father in purgatory. She has to navigate the administration of the afterlife and discover what exactly is going on. You have a frog spirit called Ducroak who can turn huge and help you move boxes around to solve puzzles. You can also talk to him at any time to remind yourself about your current objective, which is neat game design. The move set is pretty basic - you have a 3-hit attack combo, jump and dodge. Soon you obtain dash and wall climb from some of the underworld administrators. To find your father you are appointed as a temporary death guardian (similar to a grim reaper) who is able to extract sin from souls (acting as currency dropped from defeated enemies) and capture fugitive souls - ones who have not gone trough the system for whatever reason. If those souls become too corrupted by sin they transform into spectres - monster who usually serve as bosses. You obtain new weapons on your journey one of which is the sword, able to deflect projectiles. Each weapon has a different special move requiring some energy to use.
