English translation below.

---------------------------------
“Ach, Kam´rad, liebster Kam´rad mein
Schreib einen Brief nach Haus.
Schreibe du, schreibe du an meinen Schatz

One of the most famous songs from the Principality of Lippe, a kind of national anthem of the Lipperland.
The nationally popular song led, among other things, to call the area of the principality, in contrast to Schaumburg-Lippe, Lippe-Detmold.
The soldier song probably originates from the wars of liberation against Napoleon, presumably the battle at Preussisch Eylau 1807.
The version of the text that emerged in 1842 mocked German small-scale government and its princes. The song describes the blue uniform of a Lippe shooter.
When the soldier falls in battle, the general sees his campaign in jeopardy due to the loss of further soldiers because the tiny Lippe-Detmold had only a tiny army.
"Lippe-Detmold a beautiful city" is also the motto of Detmold's city marketing.
Text and music: Author unknown, from Westphalia
Lippe-Detmold, a beautiful city,
A soldier inside.
Oh, he must march to war
Where the cannons are.
And when he came into this big city
In front of the captain's house.
The captain looks out the window
"My son are you there already?"
“Well, then go straight to your sergeant
And put on your blue uniform!
Because you have to march to war
Where the cannons are.”
--------------------------------
And when he got into the big battle
Then the first shot was fired.
There he is now and screams so much
because he was hit.
“Oh, comrade, dearest comrade mine
Write a letter home.
Write to my sweetheart
That I was hit!”
Hardly has he said that word
Then the second shot was fired.
There he is now and no longer screams
Because he was shot.
When the general found out
Then he grabs his beard.
“How should I wage my war?
Because my soldier is dead!”
