WOODWORKING…MAKING A PROTECTIVE SHEATH FOR MY AWL..
After making the awl recently, I realized that I should make the sheath to protect the point when the awl is in storage. The process is basically the same as when I made the awl that is the reason for the shorter video. The parts are simple to obtain and are commonly acquired at the big box store. After making the glue up, I obtained a 3/4” and 1/2” copper end caps and a small 3/4 OD x 3/8 ID rubber grommet from the plumbing aisle. The process is straight forward as explained in the video. The finish once again started at 80 grit through 600 grit and then 0000 steel wool. The coating was 6 coats of wax turned at very high speeds to produce friction and melt the wax into the wood pores.
