Geschrieben im Jahr 1921 von Walter Gättke im Stil eines alten Handwerksburschenliedes. Später wurde daraus auch ein Burschenschafts- und Soldatenlied.

Text:
Die schöne Zeit hebt an!
Das Bündel ist geschnürt!
Mamsell, wo ist der Mann,
der Dich zum Altar führt?
Das Eine sag ich frei und schlicht,
ich bin der Esel sicher nicht,
mit eins und zwei und drei,
zieh' ich an Dir vorbei!
Was gibt es in der Welt?
Viel Freud' und Pech zugleich!
Die Freude mir gefällt,
vom Pech werd' ich nicht reich!
Ich schenk es einem alten Weib,
zum Trödeln und zum Zeitvertreib,
mit eins und zwei und drei,
zieh' ich am Pech vorbei!
English Translation:
The good times begin!
The bundle is tied up!
My lady, where is the man,
who's leading you to the altar?
One thing I can say freely and simply
I'm surely not the donkey
with one and two and three,
I go past you!
What is there in the world?
Much joy and bad luck at the same time!
I like the joy
I won't get rich from bad luck!
I give it to an old woman
to dawdle and to pass the time,
with one and two and three,
I walk past the bad luck!
